Day treatment programs are designed to meet the needs of individuals with behavioral management problems relating to serious emotional disturbances. Day treatment is appropriate for students who were unable to find any success in an outpatient environment, but do not require the 24-hour care. Often, programs coordinate with an individual’s home, work, and/or school to allow the person to continue their normal daily routine, while providing the extra support a person needs to function appropriately in stressful situations. Day treatment programs offer a range of services including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, clinical assessment, and rehabilitation activities, as well as other interventions.
Day treatment programs are excellent options for families and children in need of intensive therapeutic support, but who do not want or require a residential or hospital environment. Day treatment clients are usually struggling with more difficult emotional and psychological issues, and require a specific care suited to their diagnosis.
