An adolescent is a person living in the transitional time of young adulthood. Adolescence is a transitional stage of psychological and physical development that generally occurs during the period between puberty to adulthood. Dealing with the obstacles and confusion that come with adolescence can prove to be a stressful and difficult time for some. Adolescents will sometimes display and participate in negative behavior and activities because of their inability to deal with the transitional phase of adolescence.

Adolescents or teenagers are living in a difficult time that includes various stressful environments and new responsibilities. Some adolescents are not properly prepared and have a more difficult time than others. For these teens, negative behaviors such as rebelliousness, arrogance, selfishness, and entitlement generally become more of a normal day to day action. These kinds of teens are referred to as troubled adolescents.

For parents of teens who have had a difficult time transcending into adolescence and that are displaying out of control behaviors, there are plenty of therapeutic services to help them. Services such as, group homes, residential treatment centers, and therapeutic boarding schools are all popular choices.
